In the Lawrence living room, the family goes back and forth between each TV.
One TV streams Noah Lawrence's high school honors night, the other broadcasts his brother, Aaron's University of Nebraska-Omaha virtual graduation ceremony.
Sign up for our NewslettersAaron Lawrence is graduating with a bachelor's degree in music education. UNO asked him to sing the National Anthem for the ceremony.
'When I found out we didn't have the ceremony, it was kind of just the icing on the cake,' said Aaron Lawrence. 'It's kind of odd because I've seen my brother have his graduation from college. Doing it from home and not having the same experience is kind of strange.'
As for Noah Lawrence, he has his virtual graduation from Papillion-La Vista South High School on Sunday.
'It'll be a little weird. I think it's more weird for my parents because they have more of an idea of what graduation is, but it doesn't really bother me,' Noah Lawrence said.
Dave and Jacqui Lawrence said as parents, it's hard for them not to go 'all out.' The Lawrences are used to big graduation parties and lots of family gathered together.
'It's kind of confusing to figure out what to do. It's hard not to be there,' said Dave Lawrence. 'We're proud of them. So proud.'
'Our kids are our biggest blessing and our biggest accomplishment and we're really proud of them,' said Jacqui Lawrence. 'It's nice to share that and it's hard when you don't get to.'
Even without a stage and a cap and gown, it's still a special day.
'The ceremony is nice but the fact is, you still passed everything. You're going on to the next part of your life, and it's a huge occasion. So celebrate it however you can right now,' said Aaron Lawrence.
